Getting Started
Teams
The Club has teams for boys
and girls at most age groups from Under 8 upwards.
We also have an adult ladies team and links to several
local men’s teams.
For all age groups the qualifying date is midnight
on the 31st August (e.g. to qualify for Under 9’s
you must still be 8 years old by midnight on the
31st August that year). In addition, under F.A. rules,
no child under 14 may play in a team involving players
more than two years older.
If you are interested in playing for a team, visit the Contact page, find your age group and then email or speak to the Manager concerned. (If there is no team at your age group then speak to the Chairman or Club Secretary).
If we can, we will invite you down to a training
session or to one of our pre-season trials from which
the squads are selected.

Unfortunately, due to the
success of the Club and the limit on squad numbers
imposed on us by the League, there is not always
space for everyone. In these circumstances we try
our best to keep players training with us until a
space comes free, or introduce them to our Saturday
Soccer Centre, or recommend them to another Charter
Standard Club.
The Club operates on a membership
basis. If you are chosen for a team, you will be
asked to sign our Code of Conduct, complete a membership
form each year and pay the required membership fee.
One fee is charged to cover all playing and training
costs for the season, which runs from September to
May. The fee covers kit & equipment, league, referee and pitch fees, trophies and basic insurance cover and is the same for everyone regardless of age or the number of appearances in matches.
Before the start of the season you will also be asked for passport photos and proof of age in order to register with the League. If you are already registered with a different Club then they will have to agree to your transfer – just like the professional game.
Whittington FC's insurance policy provides Death Cover of £5,000 and Permanent Total Disablement Cover of £50,000
for all members whilst they are training, playing
and travelling to/from organised matches. We also
have Public Liability cover through our affiliation
to Staffordshire F.A. However, our insurance provides
no cover for injuries or for loss of earnings.
