  Coaching

Great clubs need great coaches and it is now easier than ever to become a qualified coach through the F.A. & Whittington F.C.

The first step to becoming a qualified coach is to register as a Club volunteer and complete a Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure (CRB) – the forms for this are available from the Club Child Protection Officer. These forms are required by law from anyone involved in contact with children and once they have been processed you will be issued with a certificate valid for three years.
Then you can enrol on a F.A. Coaching Course, which take place at both national sports centres and at every County FA across the UK.

Through FA Learning you can book and pay for any national course and download an application form, just by clicking on this link.
For details of local courses click here for Staffordshire F.A. or here for Birmingham F.A.

F.A. Level 1 Club Coach
This is the UK's most popular coaching course and is the ideal introduction for all coaches with little experience or knowledge. The course normally takes place over a couple of weekends and includes Emergency First Aid and Child Protection training. The course is open entry so participants do not need any experience to take part.

F.A. Level 2 Coaching Certificate
If you’re a coach with a few seasons experience, you may wish to consider Level 2. This is still an open entry course, but is normally split into two parts with the requirement for 16 hours of recorded coaching between the initial course and the final assessment.

Other Courses
Courses and seminars are run on a variety of other topics. These include goalkeeper coaching, nutrition, advanced first aid and treatment of injuries. In addition the F.A. have launched a number of on-line courses which include Laws of the Game, Psychology and Club Administration. For further details click here FA Learning On-Line .

F.A. Coaches Association (FACA)
Click here for information on the FA Coaches Association.
Membership of the FA Coaches Association gives you access to a huge resource of free material on coaching methods and styles, nutrition, fitness training, child development plus news of conferences, courses, seminars, workshops and study visits.
This is available on-line and through the regular FACA magazine “Insight”. In addition every member receives comprehensive personal insurance protection and the chance to purchase exclusive merchandise.

If you are interested in any of the above please speak to the Club’s Coaching Director.
